Brian Cox’s Directorial Debut
Brian Cox’s feature directorial debut, Glenrothan, has completed production and is described as his “love letter to Scotland.” Starring Alan Cumming and Brian Cox, the film is set against the picturesque backdrop of a Scottish whisky distillery. Cumming portrays Donal, who, after 35 years in Chicago, reluctantly returns to the Highlands to reconcile with his estranged brother Sandy (Cox). Their reunion forces them to confront unresolved conflicts from their past and determine the future of their family’s whisky distillery, which Sandy may be forced to sell unless Donal steps in.This poignant family drama explores themes of heritage and reconciliation. In addition to Cumming and Cox, the cast includes Shirley Henderson and Alexandra Shipp. Produced by Cox, Neil Zeiger, Crystine Zhang, and others, Glenrothan is co-produced by Lionsgate, which holds U.K. distribution rights.
